“The power of food excites me. It brings us together and has the ability to heal”
Francis is a certified Health Coach by the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (2015). She is board certified by the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaches (2021) and has seven years work experience in the field of health and nutrition. She completed her training in Motivational Interviewing in 2018 with Ken Resnicow, Phd Professor at the University of Michigan School of Public Health and in 2021 through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.
She was born and raised in Hamburg, Germany. She is half Swedish and is fluent in English, German and Swedish. She moved to the United States back in 2009 and today resides in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The beginning of her career started in hospitality, working in several hotels in Beverly Hills. After a while she started neglecting her health, due to the unpredictable pace of hospitality and working late hours. She was overweight, fatigued and had chronic migraines. She realized something needed to change. With the advice of a co-worker she went plant based for a while, cut out all soda and sugar, sold her car and started using her bicycle to get around town instead. People told her it was impossible to live in LA without a car. And much to her own surprise she made it work and through the right nutrition and movement, finally started to heal her health issues. That was the beginning of her long health journey.
Francis transferred to San Francisco to be with her boyfriend and now husband. In 2014 she started her education with the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and started working for Jumpstart MD, a medically supervised weight loss program. She worked with JumpstartMD from 2014-2020, under the founder and CEO Sean Bourke, who she also calls her mentor. She spent many years working as their Lead and Senior Health Coach, facilitating training for staff and coaching thousands of clients.
She had her daughter back in 2018 which came with a new list of health issues. From appendicitis and surgery to postpartum hypothyroidism, she yet again had to work on her health issues and to learn to navigate the challenges.
She says perhaps that is what excites her most about nutrition: the healing power of food. Our body communicates with us and it’s our job to get to know it and to support it best that we can.
Francis and her family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2021. After she left JumpstartMD after seven years, she finally decided to start her own coaching business to continue doing what she feel so passionate about: helping people feel their best.
